The Beginning and Today

The original “cinch lock” product concept was conceived in 2016 by business-minded cyclists and innovators in a coffee shop in Portland, Oregon. The company, OTTO DesignWorks LLC, was then formed after a successful crowdfunding campaign proved the need for a lightweight, compact quick-stop lock. OTTOLOCK has won many awards for its best-in-class design ranging from Bicycling Magazine to Popular Mechanics.

We’re proud to have created this new, convenient-security category. The cinch lock is often referred to as a coffee shop lock or a pocket lock, and has many use cases extending from stopping for snacks to bike-packing to other outdoor market needs.

Our patented cinch locks are proudly manufactured in the USA. They are hand-made in Oregon with many unique components all sourced across the USA. Since launching the brand, OTTOLOCK has sold over 300,000 cinch locks to customers world-wide.

We’ve since expanded the brand to offer a full-range of portable locks designed to fit many needs. With the addition of our SIDEKICK U-Locks and Folding Locks, we now provide many security solutions - a lock for every stop.
